A no-frills family-run canteen that has been cooking biryani in Mattancherry since 1948, still known locally by its founder's nickname, Kayikka. The mutton biryani is the pilgrimage dish, served with date pickle, onion salad and pappadam. It runs at lunchtime only and gets crowded, so arrive before 1pm.
